Enjoy your journey through Sea Lion Caves, you will see Sea Lions and Sea Birds in their natural habitat. You will have fun and enjoy the sight and sound of these amazing Sea Lions and Sea Birds, you will witness nature at its best. Sea Birds Pigeon Guillemot are migratory birds and they visit Sea Lion Caves in April during mating season, you can enjoy their company and listen to their amazing Whistle and Hissing. Yes, the Killer Whale. Every one loves to learn and hear more about Killer Whale, not frequent visitor at the cave but it is of considerable interest. On average Killer Whale is approx 27 feet long and weighs 400 tons. It may be possible but if it's rainy the steep hill getting to the elevator that goes down could be a problem. If you have one that is equipped for more rugged terrain that would probably work, but if it's the standard kind it may be hard. Also, parking is across a highway on a curve that may be dangerous to cross if it goes too slow.

You really shouldn’t rush your visit, as this is truly a unique spot. We are incredibly lucky to be able to descend hundreds of feet down into a natural sea cave where you can observe these amazing creatures in their natural habitat. We visited most recent in late July, and were thrilled to find the cave quite full. There were also plenty of nesting birds to observe, so we felt really spoiled. Take your time and really appreciate the natural wonder that this spot is

Their is a herd that lives in the area year round. During mid summer some are in the cave and most are outside in the sun (you can see them from the path)

Yes but if you are not sure you con contact the staff and they will tell you there is also a web cam in the cave that you can veiw on line. but nothing like seeing it for yourself
