Great paved trail for bikes, walkers, and families with strollers. There’s several dirt hiking trails of varying difficulty. Beautiful views and very peaceful. Full review by manalynnrocks

This is a GORGE area, so one could get into trouble if not cautious. The bike trail is pretty safe though.

A:
Yes; I saw people in kayaks on the river when I was riding my bike. There was a river access at the west end of the trail.

This is because it is a state nature reserve, not because of anti animal sentiment. Blackhand is also the only unit in the reserve system that allows on any access by bicycles., which are also limited to the paved route.

There is another parking lot that was just added in 2019 for putting in/taking out kayaks. It's in the field across from the main parking lot. You can put in there and then take out at Dillon State Park or you can put in at Stratton's bridge and take out at blackhand. Either way it's a wonderful trip
