The trails for bike riding are excellent. One can actually ride bikes everywhere. Some additional signage would be helpful, so keep your map with o.Full review by beth ann k
How do you secure your rental bikes during your ride around the island (if you have to buy food, use restroom etc.)? Do you have to bring a lock?
A:
There are bike racks at the Jekyl Island Club, most restaurants, convenience store, shops & beach. We like having the peace of mind & locked our bikes when stopping for a while.

So far, ebikes are a gray area on all trails. As a rule, no motorized vehicles are allowed on ANY trails with the exception of electric wheelchairs. As one fried of mine (police officer) told me, his bike is electric assisted. Still a gray area, as far as he is concerned. So, right now, as long as you don't break the speed limit, usually 15 or 20 mph on any trail, you should be okay. My personal opinion is that ebikes are good but also bad since many new users do not know how to handle the speed on two wheels. Very few bicycle riders know how to make a quick stop or emergency turn and many do not warn those they pass with either a bell, horn or verbal sound.
Yes dogs can walk on these trails as long as they are on a leash. Jekyll island is extremely dog-friendly. Just be sure to take a bag and clean up after your dog.
