Thank you everyone for your answers. I went to Kyoto and back. Turned out ticket purchasing was least of the problem, the ticketing machines at the main entrance were very efficient, took me less than 5 minutes to purchase 11 tickets, but the queue to go into the museum is unavoidable, as early as 9:30 there are already thousand of people queueing. But the flow of the visitors were well controlled. The exhibition is really worth the effort, I am glad I managed to see Hasegawa father and son's paintings side by side, and Wang Xizi's calligraphy. Definitely a highlight for my trip.
How much is it for a adult and a child?(1:nine years old. 2:eighteen years old)

Hi, I don't remember exactly nor I kept the ticket but the price was "normal" for Japan and it may change for special exhibitions, from the site: kyohaku --> about 780yen for both of you. In addition I paid about 500Y for the audio-guide (audio-tour). Do you have small baggage? Have a 100Y coin ready for the lockers in the museum (you get it back). Enjoy, David
