S'edav Va'aki Museum (formerly Pueblo Grande Museum) is located on a 1,500 year-old archaeological site once inhabited by the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People (Hohokam). We're located just minutes from downtown Phoenix next to Sky Harbor International Airport. Accessible by the Sky Train and the Light Rail. This National Historic Landmark and Phoenix Point of Pride is the largest preserved archaeological site within Phoenix. A fully accessible 2/3 mile trail takes you through a prehistoric Hohokam village site with a partially excavated platform mound (va'aki), ballcourt, and replicated prehistoric houses. The Museum consists of 3 indoor galleries, a theater, and gift shop.

Yes. It's a small site, but there are several well- designed indoor manual activities for children plus an informational video good for all ages. The other art, history and music exhibits are aimed for adults, but the best part is the excavated mounts you can see up close. The paths are mostly paved and gently curved so you can get an idea of the extensive irrigation the used, see some structures that probably looked like those in the village and even see a ball court with curved sides and see some of the stone balls they used. Check the website's calendar, they often add extras for children with native Artists or musicians.
