They imposed heavy taxes over the Poddars. Thus poddar revolted. They challenged to the thakurs to establish a more affluent city than Churu. In order to complete they met to the king of Sikar. Who allotted them the land of Ramgarh Shekhawati and Poddar made it prestigious and rich by building havelis in the city and they painted the havelis from the German imported colours. The colours used are of very good quality that their lustre have not been even lasted after about 230+ years. The city have about 125 havelis and known for tourism nowadays.
