It has a lot of stuff from the time period. I wish the upkeep was better. I’ve seen similar things in far better condition. The most interesting building was the saloon.Full review by Cassidy K

The first building was kinda cool. But lots of smells. Buckets to catch rain water not changed often. Maybe we've just been to see too many old towns, but this one didn't seem very organized. Buildin…Full review by Kathie67455
Is there any kind of 1880's gun fight and if so, is there a schedule? How much time do people typically spend in the town? Trying to figure out our trip logistics for next week.

We did not see a gun fight. You can rent outfits so you could stag your own fight. As for how long to plan it all depends on how fast you look at things. If you have small children I'd imagine they would just run from building to building and it would go pretty quick. The ride to the homestead takes about an hour including time spent there. My husband and I were there a couple of hours but did not go to homestead and didn't spend a lot to time In each building and we had lunch but did not stop in saloon for root beer which seemed to be a big hit with kids.
Has anyone also been to the 4 mile old west town too? Are these the same thing or is one better than the other?

I'm not sure what that is... but we rode the 1880 train and we separately visited an 1880 town outside of Wall, SD. I totally recommend both. It was very neat. The buildings were authentic and set up will make you feel like you've stepped back on time. They even added a dress up for all ages!
