Tyne Theatre & Opera House is an independent venue and charity, boasting a rare example wooden modular under-stage machinery and a rich history. The theatre was built in 1867 by industrialist and politician Joseph Cowen who envisioned a 'theatre for everyone', which remains at the heart of the venue's ethos.
