There are parking lots if that is what you mean. It is a walking path. Yes easy and level for children icy in spots in winter of course. Parking is extremely expensive in the winter also …

I'll be visiting Vail in early January and staying at the Wren. I'd like to walk while my husband skis. Will the Recreation Path likely be open to casual walkers (I'm a fairly fit 69)? Where is the western end of it?

The path isn't typically plowed in the winter. The Wren is just up a small hill from the path, however, so can reach it and either walk with boots or snowshoes along the creekside path about two blocks to a plowed street that will lead you into the center of Vail Village. There is also a free town bus that stops at Ford Park and will take you to the Village Transportation Center. You should call The Wren directly to confirm this info.
