Yes you definitely need a vehicle. Cars may find the road rough going, depends on the time of year. The pentecost river crossing is only 4wds, if you were going to explore, along the Gibb River Road. NO SHOPS nearby, not sure of cooking facilities. EMMA Gorge is a huge MUST SEE.

I'm not much good for your questions as I went there for lunch at the restaurant then a brisk 20-30 min walk to the gorge itself. Take your bathers & towel for a swim. I didn't stay …

I didn't stay overnight so can't comment on accommodation. Definitely need a vehicle, 4-wheel drive best. As above, check for bushfire damage before planning anything.
