A Grade I listed Victorian theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne, offering a varied and vibrant programme of; comedy, music, theatre, entertainment & family shows. Tyne Theatre & Opera House is an independent venue and charity, boasting a rare example wooden modular under-stage machinery and a rich history. The theatre was built in 1867 by industrialist and politician Joseph Cowen who envisioned a 'theatre for everyone', which remains at the heart of the venue's ethos.

The best seats are in the dress circle. This tear of the theatre was designed to seat wealthy people who wanted to watch the play as opposed to the stalls where wealthy people sat to be seen at the theatre. There are a few seats in the circle that are difficult, but none are impossible.
