Eleven people are being monitored after being exposed to bird flu at an animal exhibit farm in a Waterford Township park.

Last month, state health officials detected bird flu in a backyard flock in Jackson County, plus two commercial poultry facilities in Ottawa County.

The Oakland County Health Division is monitoring 11 people who had direct contact with the infected flock; two have flu-like symptoms and are in isolation, said Bill Mullan, county spokesman.

FOX 2 - A case of the highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected in a backyard flock from Oakland County, the state announced Thursday. The case was found by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
