The train slammed into the back half of the vehicle as the driver tried to speed past. Officials said one person was hurt in the crash.

One person is reportedly hospitalized after a Brightline train slammed into a car in North Miami Beach, according to NBC affiliate WTVJ.

A car and a Brightline train collided in North Miami Beach today, tearing the vehicle in half and sending the driver to the hospital with injuries. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Northeast 163rd Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

They are on leave “pending the results of an internal administrative investigation to determine if City and Fire Rescue policies and procedures were followed,” the fire chief said.

Three firefighters were among 15 people taken to the hospital after a Brightline train and a firetruck collided in Delray Beach, according to officials.
