Most forecast models suggest a hurricane landfall in Florida or the northern Gulf Coast on Thursday, forecasters say.

Forecasters warned residents along Florida’s Gulf coast of potential Hurricane Helene, which is expected to form in the next 48 hours and track toward an area somewhere between Tampa and Pensacola late in the week.

A disturbance in the Caribbean is set to strengthen into the next named storm of the season soon, and its future track could take it toward Florida by the middle of the week.
