The suspected shooter in the killing of a Marysville police officer was identified as Rick David Oliver, 60 of Olivehurst, the Yuba County Sheriff's Office announced. Oliver was killed in a shootout with law enforcement while they were serving a search warrant in connection with a years-long investigation into a transnational drug trafficking operation.
Officer Osmar Rodarte was a newcomer to the department, having served just two years, when he was killed executing a search warrant as part of a sweeping operation, authorities said. The shooting happened around 7:50 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Adventist Health and Rideout hospital in Marysville.
