With a blur around the basepaths, the Miami Marlins on Sunday seized their third walk-off triumph in four games to kick off this 2025 season. Quite the opening series for a team that didn’t notch its third win last year until April 13 and lost 100 games.

Griffin Conine hit a home run, Derek Hill scored the winning run from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth and the Florida Marlins beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2.

For the third time in four games to begin the year, the Pirates (1-3) suffered a walk-off loss at the hands of the Miami Marlins.

The Pirates were once again walk-off losers against the Miami Marlins, falling 5-4 in 12 innings on Saturday. A questionable send decision by third base coach Mike Rabelo erased a scoring chance for the Pirates in the top of the 12th and the Marlins took advantage and won the game in the bottom of the inning.

For the second time through the first three games of the season, the Pirates were walked off by the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park.

Dane Myers hit a walk-off single with one out in the 12th inning as the Miami Marlins outlasted the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 on Saturday.

Jeff Conine authored one of the most memorable defensive moments in Marlins history in Game 4 of the 2003 National League Division Series. Twenty-two years later, his son Griffin Conine added to franchise lore in Miami’s 5-4 12-inning walk-off victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday at loanDepot park.

The Pirates earned their first victory of the season by taking down the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Friday night at loanDepot Park.
