EAST MEADOW, NY -- The New York Islanders announced on Monday morning that defenseman Ryan Pulock and goaltender Marcus Hogberg have been placed on injured reserve with upper-body injuries. Goalie Jakub Skarek has been recalled.

New York Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock left in the first period of action versus the Carolina Hurricanes after falling behind the net. Later in the third period, goaltender Marcus Högberg exited the game and was replaced by Ilya Sorokin.

Goaltender Marcus Hogberg and defenceman Ryan Pulock were placed on IR with upper-body injuries on Monday, retroactive to Saturday. That means they won't be eligible to return until next Saturday. The Islanders recalled goalie Jakub Skarek from the AHL to fill Hogberg's spot. New York is thin in net with Semyon Varlamov on LTIR.

New York announced on Monday afternoon that they have acquired Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues : While Pulock is a big-body right-shot defenseman, Pernovich is a 5-10 left-handed defenseman. However, he can play both sides.
