Another national retailer will be closing stores in 2025. Dollar General announced in its fourth quarter earnings report last week it is planning to close 96 Dollar General stores and 45 Popshelf stores during the first quarter of 2025, while another six Popshelf stores will be converted into Dollar General stores.

Dollar General Corporation made the announcement in its fourth-quarter earnings report, following other high-profile store closures by Joann, Walgreens, and Big Lots. 2025 has not been a good year for retail store closures so far.

Dollar General Corp. is closing more than 100 stores. The Goodlettsville-based retailer will close 96 Dollar General (NYSE: DG) locations and 45 Popshelf stores in the first quarter of its fiscal year, according to its fourth quarter earnings report. The company will also rebrand six Popshelf stores to Dollar Generals.
