Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is open to a Slovakian proposal to host peace talks with Ukraine to end a conflict he said Russia was determined to bring to a conclusion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia is open to Slovakia hosting potential peace talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. Putin told journalists north of St Petersburg that Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico made the proposal during his visit to Moscow last Sunday,

Russia claims that Slovakia allegedly proposed hosting potential negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on its territory. Ukraine reminded Bratislava about the Peace Formula, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Heorhii Tykhyi says in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin has said he is "open to peace talks" with Ukraine in Slovakia "if it comes to that". The Russian president said that Slovakia "would be happy to provide their own country as a platform for negotiations". He added: "We are not opposed, if it comes to that. Why not? Since Slovakia takes such a neutral position".

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico told Russian President Vladimir Putin during a recent visit to Moscow that his country was prepared to broker peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, the TASS news agency reported Thursday.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has warned Ukraine about the possibility of cutting off electricity supplies if Kyiv halts the transit of Russian gas. Fico also suggested Slovakia as a venue for peace negotiations in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict.
