The student, Rumeysa Ozturk, was detained by ICE agents in Massachusetts, driven to Vermont and flown to a detention center in Louisiana, where the government was trying to argue her court case.

A federal judge has moved a case involving at Tufts University doctoral student being held at an immigration facility in Louisiana to Vermont.

Ozturk’s case will be moved before Vermont District Judge William Sessions III, a former chair of the US Sentencing Commission who was appointed to the bench by Bill Clinton.
