Midnight quake in southern Taiwan leaves 27 hurt, rescues underway
The quake hit at 12:17 a.m. and was centered 38 kilometers (24 miles) southeast of Chiayi County Hall at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles), Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration said. The U.S. Geological Survey measured the earthquake at a less powerful magnitude 6.

TSMC says Taiwan fabs are operational again following 6.4 magnitude earthquake
In a statement to DCD, TSMC said that as a result of the earthquake, its fabs in Taiwan’s Southern Science Park recorded a maximum seismic intensity of level 5, while fabs in Central Science Park recorded a maximum intensity of level 4 and Hsinchu Science Park fabs (including Longtan and Zhunan) recorded a maximum intensity of level 3.

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck the south of Taiwan, leaving some 27 people wounded. The country’s Central Weather Administration (CWA) said the quake had a depth of 9.4 kilometres (6 miles) with its epicentre in Dapu township in Chiayi county, and hit shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
