Federal judges in New York and Texas on Wednesday issued orders to temporarily halt the deportation of Venezuelan plaintiffs in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act – a wartime authority the administration has invoked to deport alleged gang members without due process.

The Trump administration’s bid to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members was temporarily blocked by judges in New York and Texas, in a pair of cases over the president’s use of a two-century old wartime law.

A measles outbreak that has caused the deaths of two school-aged children has now surpassed more than 500 cases across Texas, according to health officials. The latest update from the Texas Department of State Health Services shows that 505 people have been infected with measles since the outbreak began in late January in the South Plains region.

The Trump administration has said it has revoked the visas of more than 300 international students across the country in the last three weeks.
