A cold front moving slowly through Texas is poised to bring a risk for severe weather this week. Will those storms eventually make it to Houston?

The Wichita Falls area will have chances for rain over the coming week. The National Weather Service predicted rain could start Tuesday afternoon and continue through Saturday. Some of the rain could come from thunderstorms, the weather service said.

Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi faced the threat of a "generational flood event" with some locations forecast to see as much as 15 inches (38 cm) of rain by the weekend, which could cause rivers to burst their banks.

Millions of people were under severe weather advisories. More than 200,000 customers were without power, and injuries were reported in Kentucky and Arkansas.
