Closer inspection (and a bit of fingernail prying) revealed that underneath the sticker lay an AMD FX 4100, a 14-year-old Bulldozer chip that can be found on the used market for around $10.

There have been reports of people buying AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D on Amazon only to find it was a fake with a sticker on top. The fake was shrink-wrapped in a box, making it look like it was brand new.

Instead of the modern design with the familiar octopus-shaped heat spreader seen in recent Ryzen models, the chip was an older AMD FX-4100 built on a 32nm Bulldozer design from 2011.
