The world’s busiest airport is set to live up to that title during the holiday travel rush this weekend as people head home from Christmas celebrations and journey out for New Year’s Eve. As of noon Friday,

Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson say Friday will be the busiest travel day of the year-end holidays. Many are heading home from Christmas while others are starting their New Year’s vacation. That will add up to more than 327,000 passengers passing through the airport on Friday alone.

Friday is expected to be the peak of holiday travel at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as hundreds of thousands of people return home after the holidays.

With just a few days left in the year, the numbers indicate this has been the busiest year for air travel ever.
