By 6:15 a.m., Xcel Energy said power had been restored to nearly 4,000 homes, leaving just over 1,600 Coloradans in Aurora without power, according to Xcel's outage map.

Aurora Fire Chief Jeff Lane said the house was a total loss. The family and their pet cats were able to escape the fire uninjured. Lane said a power line may have been involved in causing the fire.
