Blacktip reef sharks — not to be confused with “oceanic black tipped sharks” — are a small, near-shore shark species growing to a maximum size of around 6 feet and 30-40 lbs.

Sharjah: Sharjah Aquarium, yesterday, produced its first ever shark — a blacktip reef shark, named Amber. The baby shark was born on August 7 and measures slightly over 50 centimetres in length.
