The Colorado Secretary of State's Office released more information about the online password leak on Monday, the day before the election.

Secretary Jena Griswold said she'd hired an outside law firm to look into the incident. That won't satisfy her critics.

The Colorado secretary of state issued a statement confirming that the partial passwords to its voting system were live on its website for a time.

Colorado officials confirmed passwords to election equipment have been updated more than a week after partial passwords were posted online.

“There are two unique passwords for every election equipment component, which are kept in separate places and held by different parties. Passwords can only be used with physical in-person access to a voting system,” a spokesperson for the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office said.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is reporting they are cooperating with the Denver District Attorney’s Office into an investigation involving the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office.

On Friday, the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced it received two signed affidavits alleging violations of CRS 1-13-708, or tampering with voting equipment. Allegations of election law violations require an investigation in accordance with state law.
