Rosary Coach Dreux Valenti answered the phone in his Placentia home and instinctively hollered for his wife.
Dreux Valenti, who spent nine years as a coach for Canyon track and field, will be the new coach of Brea Olinda’s program. The Brea resident said his decision was made with his family in mind.
Understandably, coach Dreux Valenti – in his eighth season as coach – is pleased with what his teams have accomplished. He’s even more excited about the future.
Brea coach Dreux Valenti said the 800s will help Tamagno improve his foot speed for national 1,500 and 1,600 races, including the Junior Nationals.
“Watching his stride, his rhythm, he just looked like a natural,” remembered Dreux Valenti, then Canyon’s first-year coach. “Raw, but naturally talented.
Canyon was close to being the Wildcats’ equal in the cross country season, but that wasn’t much comfort for Comanches coach Dreux Valenti going into Wednesday’s track and field dual meet.
“This is one of the meets they (the athletes) look forward to every year,” Canyon coach Dreux Valenti said.
“Right now, she’s on fire,” Canyon coach Dreux Valenti said. “We’re improving week to week. She’s super excited to come back and run against all these people in CIF now.
BREA OLINDA NAMES NEW TRACK COACH Former Canyon High track and field coach Dreux Valenti will take over the same position at Brea Olinda High, the school announced last week.
