EA's Origin app for PC gaming will shut down in April
EA's Origin PC client has officially reached the end of the line. The gaming company had previously announced its plans to rebrand the Origin app for desktop players back in 2020 and began rolling out the new EA app in 2022.
EA to Sunset Origin Launcher This April
Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the end of Origin, its 14-year-old game launcher. The company will sunset Origin this April, forcing gamers with EA titles to open them via the newer EA app.
EA Origin to shut down in April 2025
EA Origin will shut down on April 17, 2025, as a result of Microsoft no longer supporting 32-bit software. Players that use Origin will need to download and install the EA app, available from EA's website, which requires a 64-bit version of Windows.
