A TERRIFIED shopper found a giant huntsman spider lurking in his bunch of Tesco bananas. Craig Harrison, 35, scoffed one banana before spotting the female huntsman — and its bulging 200-egg sac.
Giant huntsman spiders are the largest member of the huntsman spider family Sparassidae with a leg span stretching up to 12 inches across — roughly the size of a dinner plate.
Craig Harrison, 35 from Windsor, had already peeled and eaten a banana from the Tesco bag before he noticed the female huntsman spider (pictured) - and an egg sac containing 200 babies.
“I was greeted with a giant huntsman and egg sac on the left hand side. “My initial response was revulsion but then seeing the bloody thing guarding the egg sac took it to another level.” ...
"I was greeted with a giant huntsman and an egg sac on the left side. At first, with the egg sac, I thought, "Oh, that's cute; it's got a backpack,", then it dawned on me what it was," he said.
