Fury has erupted amongst conservationists after a historic church replaced its 19th century Gothic door with a modern glass porch in order to make it 'more welcoming'.

The Church, constructed in 1892 ... Gothic-style door carvings and decorative sandstone trim around door and window openings.

A housing developer who replaced the doors of a Gothic church hall as part of a conversion, has been ordered to bring the originals back after carrying out the work without consent.
