Under the influence of a weather system, unseasonal rain occurred in the blocks of Chidambaram, Kattumannarkovil, Keerapalayam and Bhuvanagiri, causing damage to standing crops in the region.

The temple honours included holy clothes, garlands, and dry fruits. The honours were taken in a procession from the Uthira Street and sent to Kattumannarkovil.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday by Kattumannarkovil police for abetting the suicide of his four-month pregnant wife on Tuesday at Kurugudi village.
