During late votes Wednesday night, Senate Republicans weighed in on the current government funding situation with a little more than 48 hours until a shutdown.

Dec. 18 (UPI) --The federal government could shut down Friday due to a lack of funding after Republican lawmakers on Wednesday aborted a bipartisan stopgap funding measure announced on Tuesday.

However, abandoning the bill negotiated by congressional leaders runs the risk of heading into the holidays with the federal government shut down for lack of funding.
