The three hikers did not resurface after jumping into Rattlesnake Falls northwest of Lake Tahoe and had to be recovered by divers.

The three men had been hiking in Soda Springs, Calif., when they jumped into the water near Rattlesnake Falls, a remote and isolated area that made rescue difficult.

On Saturday, volunteer diver Juan Heredia from Stockton hiked for three hours on a remote trail in the Sierra Nevada, through hail and stormy conditions, and recovered the bodies of three men who drowned last week at Rattlesnake Falls, near Soda Springs.
