This year is the 325th anniversary of Mardi Gras in the Americas, but it's more significant than that to Mississippi.

Thousands of revelers in outlandish costumes filled the streets of New Orleans as the city celebrated Mardi Gras Day despite the threat of storms.

Powerful storms bearing a threat of tornadoes are expected to punch through Louisiana and other parts of the South on Tuesday.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans, has been in full swing since Jan. 6 and will close on March 4. Michiganders often celebrate with paczki, other treats.
