EMERYVILLE — A juvenile whale spotted swimming in the San Francisco Bay on several occasions in early April was beached on an offshore mudflat Tuesday, according to the Marine Mammal Center.

What appeared to be a rare type of whale that got stuck in shallow waters near the Emeryville Marina Tuesday morning was euthanized after struggling into the afternoon, officials with the Marine Mammal Center said.

The Marine Mammal Center euthanized a juvenile minke whale on Tuesday afternoon after it had been seen stranded at least three times in the Bay.
