Belchertown Animal Control in Massachusetts recently rescued two baby wild animals on the same day: a drenched and frightened raccoon and a groundhog stuck in a net.

The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club announced on March 23, 2024, that Phil and his partner, Phyllis, welcomed two new kits (baby groundhogs), a female named Sunny and male named Shadow.

After ensuring no mother raccoon was nearby, the officer bundled the baby in a warm blanket and called Leyden Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Leyden, Mass., where the raccoon is now recovering.
