Mayor Eric Adams announced a new plan Wednesday to help address the issue of of homeless people with mental illness​.

New York City plans to build a live-in “safe space” care facility for homeless people with serious mental illness who are repeatedly treated and discharged from city hospitals, Mayor Adams said Wednesday.

Mayor Adams says that under the new "Bridge to Home" plan, NYC Health + Hospitals will offer patients with serious mental illness who are ready for discharge from the hospital but do not have a place to go intensive treatment and comprehensive support.

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo came out as the favorite to defeat Adams in November, according to the poll commissioned by Progressives for Democracy in America. When asked about the poll Monday, Adams was monumentally unmoved.
