The blame for the Dow being down so much, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are rising, can be put on two stocks, those of Honeywell and Salesforce.

The S&P 500 ( ^GSPC) gained 0.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average ( ^DJI) rose nearly 0.4%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ( ^IXIC) was up nearly 0.3%.

U.S. stock indexes are holding relatively steady on Friday following a mixed report on the U.S. job market that analysts said may not change much for financial markets. The S&P 500 was 0.1% higher in early trading and remained on track for a modest gain for the week.
