Myre was a player on the school's football team with the uniform number 42. The Michigan athletic department announced the patch on Thursday, offering support to the Oxford community.

Ironically, Michigan State wore all-white uniforms last week at Michigan Stadium – a 29-7 Wolverines victory. The last time Michigan donned all-white was Oct. 9, 2021 at Nebraska – a 32-29 win.

The new uniforms are part of Michigan's transition to Nike as its official apparel provider, starting Monday. They'll be revealed during a private event Tuesday at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.
