SAN ANTONIO — One of Tahaad Pettiford’s earliest basketball memories came in the third grade. He was a kid playing in an open gym against others much older than him.

The summers, like for most kids in the city, took Miller and Tahaad Pettiford to the outdoor courts. That's where Miller first witnessed what the country now knows of his cousin.
