Total anomalous pulmonary venous return is a heart defect that is present at birth. The condition affects around one in every 10,000 babies born in the US every year, according to the CDC.
This is called total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR). It is a cyanotic congenital defect which has an incidence of 0.6 to 1.2 per 10,000 live births.
