Gov. Jeff Landry’s ambitious tax package easily passed its first hurdle when the House passed three measures Tuesday that would reduce tax payments by nearly $2 billion.

Louisiana’s GOP-dominated House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed individual and corporate tax cuts, along with a constitutional amendment.

If approved by the full House and Senate, the plan would eliminate the current tax brackets and move the state closer to eliminating the income tax.
