Two days after Rick Pitino was named a co-recipient of the Associated Press National Coach of the Year, he was chosen as the Werner Ladder Naismith National Coach of the Year for the first time. Recently, Pitino was also picked as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association’s (USBWA) Henry Iba National Coach of the Year.

The St. John’s coach was named the recipient of the illustrious national award during a ceremony Sunday at the Final Four in San Antonio. He was chosen over fellow finalists Bruce Pearl of Auburn, Kelvin Sampson of Houston, and Jon Scheyer of Duke.
