Several roads across Los Angeles will be closed for the 40th LA Marathon, impacting traffic for many residents.

Thousands of runners and spectators across the world will be in Southern California this weekend for the 40th Los Angeles Marathon. This year, the LA Marathon falls on Sunday, March 16 and it's a sold-out event.

For the first time ever, the New York City Half Marathon will zip over the Brooklyn Bridge this Sunday. Over 27,000 athletes will run the streets of New York City on Saturday, completing the 13.1-mile course that starts in Brooklyn and ends in Manhattan.

For drivers, that means road closures as early as midnight in some areas, with major streets remaining closed into the afternoon.

A host of different roads will be shut this Sunday (March 16) for the annual Colchester Half Marathon. Motorists will have to plan their journeys ahead of time on Sunday due to the major sporting event taking place throughout the city.
