New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is beginning to build his coaching staff, and former Chicago Bears interim coach Thomas Brown is on his shortlist for offensive coordinator.

Thomas Brown has more than one interview on his plate. The Bears ’ interim head coach, who will interview for the permanent position as part of the team’s wide-ranging search, is expected to talk to the Seahawks about their offensive coordinator vacancy, a source confirmed.

The New England Patriots have conducted their first known coaching staff interview since hiring Mike Vrabel earlier this week. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team interviewed Thomas Brown for their offensive coordinator position.

The NFL Network also reported that Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka — considered a likely candidate because the Seahawks interviewed him for the head-coaching job last season and a wanted to interview him for the OC job before being blocked — would likely be blocked again by the Giants if the Seahawks request permission.
