At least 15 cars were involved in a crash on Interstate 35 north of Des Moines, and the road is shut down. The incident comes amid dangerous driving conditions from winter weather in the region.

The Local 5 Weather Team has declared Wednesday a Weather Impact Day through 6 p.m. due to the storm. Wind gusts range from 50-65 mph, with the strongest gusts found over western and southwestern Iowa. Snow totals will likely range between 2-9", but wind speeds will make it impossible to measure.

Blizzard conditions moved into central Iowa yesterday, causing big travel issues and even wind damage. Another round of snow will be possible late tonight into Friday. Most of eastern Iowa saw less than two inches of snow.
