It's time to look up at the night sky. The Lyrids - Spring's first meteor shower - are known for producing bright-flashing fireballs, according to NASA.

That's when the Lyrid meteor shower - one of the oldest known and most reliable meteor showers of the year - lights up the night. The Lyrids will peak overnight from April 21, 2025 into April 22, 2025 this year.

The Lyrid meteor shower, which this year peaks on the night of April 22-23 and is best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere, is caused by debris from the C/1861 G1 comet. The moon being in its waning phases and largely below the horizon gives us the best chance of dark skies.
