Intense thunderstorms are expected to unleash rounds of heavy rain that could bring dangerous flooding to tens of millions of people in the central and eastern US this week.
Strong winds and heavy rains are still forecast for the New Orleans metro area through midday Sunday. Those storms will usher in a cold front that will send temperatures plunging into the 50s and 60s over the next few days.

There are reports of damage to homes and trees in the area. 911 calls began to come in around 3 p.m. in Grand Saline on Friday. At least eight homes were damaged in the city, but that number could rise. No injuries have been reported.
